Team Explore Idea successfully conducted a thought-provoking event titled “कठपुतली: नेपालमा न्याय बोल्छ कि डर” on the 4th of August, 2025. The discussion aimed to explore whether justice, enforcement and media in Nepal operates with independence or remains bound by fear. The event was graced by three prominent guest speakers: Ramesh Kharel, former DIG of Nepal Police; Jagdish Kharel, Editor-in-Chief of Image; and Sabita Bhandari, Senior Advocate.
Breaking away from traditional formats, the event adopted a unique panel-press style. Six outstanding students, selected through auditions, formed the press team, divided into three tables representing enforcement, media, and law. Each team directly questioned the guest speakers, focusing on the unresolved cases of Chhori Maiya Maharjan and Prakriti Lamsal, both of which have sparked national conversations on justice, accountability, and institutional trust.
The programme opened with a gripping performance by Krisha Ghimire, who brought to life the story of Nirmala Pant — a young girl whose unresolved case of rape and murder has haunted the nation for seven long years. With each line and gesture, the drama echoed the pain, unanswered questions, and collective frustration of a country still waiting for justice. The hall fell silent, not out of formality, but from the weight of truth it carried.
The discussions throughout the event revealed diverse perspectives on the state of Nepal’s judicial, media and enforcement systems. Speakers addressed the role of political interference, systemic corruption, lack of transparency, and the urgent need for reforms. Audience members left with a deeper awareness of the challenges in ensuring media, justice and enforcement and the importance of their collective action to strengthen trust in the democratic system. Team Explore Idea extends sincere gratitude to the guest speakers, the Global College of Management, the press team, and all attendees for making this meaningful event a success.
